Munras Museum
Originally constructed in 1961, the 1,360 square foot Munrás Museum contains 5 generations of heirloom items from the early mission days donated by the Munras-Manzenelli Family of Monterey. The Munrás family crest is shown above the doorway and inside are artifacts from Casa Munrás, built in the 1820s. The Munrás Family Heritage Museum is a representation of what life was like outside the Mission in the surrounding community and ranchos. The original Casa Munras (now a hotel) was the first home built outside the walls of the Monterey Presidio.
Restoration work will include seismic stabilization, upgrades to the electrical system, new fire suppression lines and general renovation of the museum interior and exterior.
