Historical Society

The Carmel Mission Foundation Historical Society is made up of group of devoted and novice historians interested in reading, researching, and discussing the Mission's 250 year history.  The CMF Historical Society oversees the Foundation's resource center; collects, interprets, and displays materials pertaining to the history of Carmel Mission; organizes and designs our Lecture Series and Speaker Events; and inspires public involvement and appreciation of Carmel Mission, local heritage, and culture.

The CMF Historical society contributes articles for the Cornerstone publication twice a year and occasional books of historical interest. It presents programs on various aspects of mission related history, sponsors tours of historic homes and gardens, oversees historic exhibitions, and most of all has fun. The Foundation does not limit the scope of activities that the Society members may participate in, which allows for a wide-range of really interesting activities that are displayed in our Newsletter and on our website. The CMF Historical Society welcomes everyone with an interest in Mission-era, early California, and Monterey County History, to become members.
