Arts & Culture
The Carmel Mission Foundation offers wonderful opportunities that highlight local arts and culture activities throughout our community. We create programs and activities in the areas of art, photography, design, music, horticulture, culinary arts, literature, and cinema. From gallery walks, art shows, plein air courses, art history programs, interactive culinary events, historical home & garden tours, Forest Theatre events, and more; these programs offer ideal ways to experience the Art & Culture of Carmel Mission and inspires community involvement and appreciation for Carmel's historic legacy as an artistic and cultural destination.
Our upcoming exhibition, Evolution of Carmel Mission, will be featured at various venues throughout Carmel-By-the-Sea this Fall 2022.
EVOLUTION OF CARMEL MISSION
The Evolution of Carmel Mission is an art exhibit and multimedia project that captures current images of the Carmel Mission and surrounding region and matches them with historical images and sketches from 1774 to the 1960's using the same vantage point, a "Now and Then" concept. These images show the transformation of Carmel Mission and surrounding area from Mission Fields to Pebble Beach, and Carmel Hill to Point Lobos.
This exhibit will be shared with the public at special events and speaking engagements, in local schools, as well as virtually via our website and social media pages. As we continue to share the story of the Carmel Mission's 'living history', this exhibit will star the incredible icon that is Carmel Mission, and how it has endured for 250 years through changes in time and landscape.
We hope to develop excitement, promote awareness, inspire the community, and educate the public on the historical significance of Carmel Mission to our region and gain support for our efforts to preserve Carmel Mission for future generations.
