Dear Carmel Mission Foundation Supporters,

I am writing to let you know about an important Carmel Mission Foundation Board of Directors item.

Effective January 1, 2026, I will be stepping down as the Board Chairman, a position I have held for the past three years. The reason for this change is that I need to spend more time on my family business in the central valley which takes up a significant amount of time. Although I will be relinquishing Board Chair responsibilities, I am happy to remain on the Board which I have served on since 2012.

As you likely know by now, the Diocese of Monterey has dropped its lawsuit against the Foundation and this challenging dispute has been satisfactorily resolved. It's important to note that the Foundation did not incur any legal fees in connection with this matter since all related legal expenses were covered by our existing insurance policy. With this issue now behind us, the Diocese of Monterey and Carmel Mission Basilica are pleased to move forward with the Foundation as a fundraising partner to assist with the preservation, restoration, and maintenance of the historic Mission San Carlos Borromeo de Carmelo.

Finally, and as importantly, I am pleased to announce that the Board has selected Ed DiYanni as the new Chairman. Ed has been on the Foundation Board since 2015 and he is presently the Chief Financial and Operating Officer for the Stevenson School, a role he has held for the past eighteen years. Ed will be sending you a communication next month with an update on next steps as we begin to resume our normal and very important fundraising operations.
